Ain't no rest for the wicked - 1-15-12

Today, we rest.

Pretty awesome view of the courtyard from our room.
After a late night out at the local watering hole and debauchery chamber, Cookie, I unfortunately ended up sleeping until mid afternoon; a very atypical thing to do, in my case.  I embraced it, however as we had the entire day off from any sort of planned activities or work, and we took off for the pool, of which we all have a view of from our balconies overlooking the courtyard.  Unfortunately, it is heated to the temperature of a lukewarm bath, but fortunately it had cooled off quite a bit throughout Melbourne.  Weather here seems to have the same fickle trends as in the south back home.  I do know that they whine a good deal about the super hot humid days they have had since we have been here, so typically, I guess, this must be an oddity.  The pros of this place just keep on racking up.

After our lazy day by the pool, we took off for the market to gather the necessary trimmings for taco night and had a look around the awesomely laid out, but shockingly expensive market.  Learned about the night market from some friendly vendors and added that to our plan for Wednesday night.  Sangria, donuts, and music: I'm in.  Keeping with our lazy trend, we stopped by the local movie rental store to grab a few movies, whose genres randomness could not have been more extreme if we tried: Bone Collectors, Deer Hunter, and some documentary on Antarctica.  Turns out the movie room was taken and we were forced into watching the Notebook, whose story brought up all sorts of dramatic speculation from the guys and even more tears from the girls.  Wholly preposterous, in my book.  No dude could get broken up with, build a house he promised a girl - with a place for his ex to paint- , kiss his ex while she is engaged, and not be thought of as a bit psychotic.  Just sayin.

Slow day with some much needed recovery and refueling.  Tomorrow we get back after it with RMIT hosting us in several job site visits.

Cheers.
